Job Description
- Candidates working at this post are appointed to conduct field work as well as do office work delivering technical services in applied science, monitoring, and other related fields.
- Candidates appointed to this post will also have to be part of the Emergency Response Team and support the Visitor Safety and Human-Wildlife Coexistence Programs.
- Candidates are appointed to operate or ride in a variety of modes of transportation and work in a challenging and breathtaking natural environment.
Job requirement
- They must have completed at least 1 year of post-secondary program related to the environment and natural science to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain dedicated experience in travelling or working in the field
- They must attain dedicated experience in handling, setting up and using outdoor and fieldwork equipment.
- Candidates must attain knowledge of terrestrial or aquatic environments, vegetation, and wildlife, as well as weather conditions specific to Pukaskwa National Park.
- Candidates must attain dedicated knowledge of Indigenous history, culture and heritage of Northwestern Ontario.
- They must attain the ability to travel and camp in remote locations with limited communication capacity
- Candidates must be able to follow procedures and protocols, and collect and record data to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates are also appointed to obtain & maintain Reliability Security Status to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must complete a pre-employment medical and must be able to wear a Parks Canada uniform, and safety equipment and follow safety procedures
Work setting
- Candidates applying for this post must obtain a valid class “G” driver’s license to be eligible for this post.
