Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to conduct field-based monitoring and management activities, as well as desktop-based analysis and reporting to support the Ecosystem Integrity team. 
  • They’re also responsible for carrying out technical field-based activities such as monitoring terrestrial and freshwater species and ecosystems. 
  • Candidates are also appointed to ensure active management of invasive species and species at risk monitoring and management. 
  • Candidates will also have to deliver supervision to the junior staff. 
  • They’re appointed to this post for creating and implementing projects including data analysis, report writing, and program delivery to, or with, the public. 
  • Candidates are also appointed to ensure that logistical considerations including safety are incorporated into field activities.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must have a minimum completion of two years of a post-secondary program related to environmental or natural sciences to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain experience in travelling or working in the natural environment in all seasons.
  • Candidates must have dedicated experience in participating in 2 or more phases of field projects. 
  • They must attain dedicated knowledge of specialized technical and scientific equipment operation and maintenance requirements. 
  • Candidates must ensure the ability to analyze spatial and non-spatial data using various media and software. 
  • They must attain the ability to communicate scientific information with a variety of audiences using a variety of techniques. 
  • Candidates must attain dedicated experience with emergency or wildfire response procedures.
  • They must have experience with wildlife conflict and firearms to be eligible for this post.

Work setting 

  • Candidates must ensure the willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment. 
  • They must acquire a dedicated valid class 5 Driver’s License to be eligible for this post.
