Job Description

• The candidate will be expected to assess patients in order to determine appropriate nursing interventions.
• The candidate must work with others to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care.
• The candidate will be expected to deliver health education programmes.
• The candidate must dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
• The candidate will be required to participate in nursing-related research activities.
• The candidate will be responsible for managing home care cases.
• The candidate will be expected to monitor, assess, address, document, and report symptoms and changes in the conditions of patients.
• The candidate will be required to operate or monitor medical equipment or apparatus.
• The candidate will be required to participate in community needs assessment and programme development.
• The candidate will be expected to provide consultative services on issues concerning the nursing profession and nursing practise.
• The candidate must be able to provide nursing care.
• The candidate must provide supportive counselling and life skills programming.
• The candidate will be responsible for supervising licenced practical nurses and other nursing personnel.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a programme lasting one to two years, or equivalent experience.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people, 11 to 15 people, 16 to 20 people, 3 to 4 people, and 5 to 10 people.
• The candidate must have a CPR certificate, be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the province/territory of employment, a First Aid certificate, and be licenced as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities.
• The candidate should be accurate.
• The candidate should be client focused.
• The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
• The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
• The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
• The candidate should have good judgemental skills.

Work setting

• The candidate will be required to work in home care and visiting care agencies, hospitals or homes for the elderly, hospitals/medical facilities or clinics, industrial facilities or establishments, nursing homes/homes for the elderly, private residences, and public or community health centres.

• The candidate must have a Basic security clearance.
• The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal background check, drug test, and medical exam.
