The Government of Yukon has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Registered Midwife. In this post candidates create access to safe, sustainable and person-centered midwifery care. They ensure consistent and high-quality culturally safe and they also ensure relationship-based midwifery services that contribute to the achievement of optimal maternal care. They will work closely with other health and social care. They will ensure pregnant people and their newborns receive high-quality care. They must have the ability to teach, coach, and mentor others. They must have the ability to ensure current, evidence-based approaches to clinical practice and programming. Job description

  • Candidates will work as employees at the Department of Health and Social Services. 
  • They will be responsible to maintain a practice environment. 
  • They will also provide postpartum and neonatal health care to pregnant Yukoners and their babies. 
  • They are reporting to the Clinical Manager of Midwifery. 
  • They are working to build a collaborative midwifery team. 
  • They will be a part of the Integrated Health Services branch. 
  • They will have access to a variety of leave options. 
  • They will work and live on the traditional land of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. 

Job requirement

  • Candidates must have knowledge of evidence-based midwifery theory, practices, techniques, and risk management acquired.
  • They must have demonstrated ability to meet Yukon Midwifery Licensing requirements.
  • They must have a Bachelor Degree in Midwifery or assessment. 
  • They must have decision-making skills. 
  • They must have excellent critical thinking. 
  • They must have the ability to research, review, and evaluate current principles. 
  • They must have the ability to provide strong clinical oversight with a focus on quality care and service delivery. 

Work setting

  • Candidates must have Internationally Education Midwifery Bridging Program (IEMBP) within a Canadian province.
  • They must be Registered Midwives with a Canadian regulatory authority.
  • They must have rural experience providing midwifery care is an asset.
  • They must have Ability to collaborate and develop strong relationships. 
  • They must have the ability to apply change management principles to achieve desired outcomes.
