Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to liaise with outside agencies related to student support services. 
  • Candidates are appointed to provide or coordinate staff development related to the provisions of education programs for all students, including learning about promising practices. 
  • They’re appointed to work collaboratively with school administration and staff to ensure inclusive programming working at this post.  
  • They must be able to support the development and maintenance of a district-wide inclusion plan for all schools. 
  • Candidates are also appointed to work collaboratively with the Comptroller to ensure the funding provided for Inclusive Schooling is effectively used and consistent with the objectives of the NWT Inclusive School Directive. 
  • Candidates are responsible for creating and presenting written and oral reports to the Council Trustees and Territorial Government. 

Job requirement 

  • They must hold, or be eligible for a N.W.T. Professional Teaching Certificate to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Education degree or higher and should have a minimum of eight years of experience teaching at various levels that include leadership experience to be eligible for this post. 
  • They should have completed training in the area of Special Needs Education.
  • Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in special needs education to be eligible for this post. 

Work setting 

  • Candidates must have a master’s degree and training in Inclusive Education and dedicated experience as a Program Support Teacher to be eligible for this post.
