Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
  • The candidate must monitor animal health.
  • The candidate must perform livestock feeding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for treating livestock health issues.
  • The candidate must harvest crops.
  • The candidate will be responsible for feeding and tending animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
  • The candidate must maintain work records and logs.
  • The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, livestock combination farming, oilseed (excluding soybean) farming, other grain farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, grain, oil and forage crop and livestock farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty, hot, wet/damp and dirty conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate must work in all weather conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area, where most people live or work on farms or ranches. Rural areas include hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements.

  • The candidate must have experience operating harvesters, sprayers or dusters, tractors, combine harvesters, farm trucks, loaders, manure spreaders, swathers and tillage equipment.
