Job Description

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about food safety and handling.
  • The candidate must measure and dump ingredients into the hoppers of mixing and grinding machines.
  • The candidate must manually pack goods into bags, boxes, or other containers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for feeding and unloading processing machines.
  • The candidate must assist process control and machine operators in performing their duties.
  • The candidate must clean the machines and immediate work areas.
  • The candidate must wrap and package prepared meats.
  • The candidate must weigh meats for sale.
  • The candidate must grind meats.
  • The candidate must cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cutting meat and poultry into specific cuts for institutional, commercial, or other wholesale use.
  • The candidate will be responsible for setting up process equipment and adhering to cleanroom procedures.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a Food Safety Certificate and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to lift weights of up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.
  • The candidate must have a positive attitude.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in a butcher shop, specialty shop, and/or meat processing and/or packing plant/establishment.

Food specialties

  • Food specialties include meat, poultry, and game.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience using sausage machines, grinders, and bandsaws.

  • The candidate must have their own transportation.
