Job Description

  • People who apply for this post are required to review plans and specifications from other disciplines, as required.
  • They’re also accountable for ensuring overall compliance with the Ontario Building Code as it relates to HVAC, plumbing and sewage systems.
  • People who applied for this post are also accountable for investigating complaints regarding contraventions of statutes, regulations and By-Laws.
  • They’re appointed at this post to advise the Ministry of Labour of unsafe working conditions or sites working at this post.
  • Candidates applied for this post to inspect fire-damaged or unsafe buildings to determine the extent of damage and required repairs/replacement with respect to HVAC, plumbing and sewage systems working at this post.

Job requirement

  • Candidates must have completed a post-secondary diploma/certificate in a discipline pertinent to the job function, such as mechanical technology, to be eligible for this post.
  • They must have prior experience as a tradesperson in the construction industry with HVAC systems and designs.
  • Candidates must possess and be able to maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and access to a properly insured vehicle to be eligible for this post.
  • They must attain dedicated knowledge in the design, operations and installations of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems to be preferred for this post.

Work setting

  • Candidates are required to approve alternative design and equipment substitutions that vary from approved plans.
  • People are also accountable for making recommendations to improve divisional policies, procedures and practices.
  • Candidates interested in this post are required to represent the Division at various committees and meetings working at this post.
