Job Description 

  • Candidates who apply for this post are appointed to conduct research and provide analysis on a wide range of planning subjects with minimal supervision working at this post.
  • People who apply for this post are required to communicate and present to stakeholders, which will be essential in liaising with individuals at all levels.
  • They’re required to have professional writing skills and will correspond with members of the public, senior management, and other stakeholders in the development application process.
  • People are also appointed to prepare minor text amendments to the Zoning Bylaw and research and analyse specific planning issues working at this post.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a bachelor’s degree in planning or in a related discipline with supplementary courses recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners as fulfilling the requirement for membership and 4 years of professional planning experience to be eligible for this post.
  • Candidates must have a master’s degree in planning or a related discipline and 2 years of professional planning experience.
  • Applicants must have significant urban planning experience at the Associate Planner level to be eligible for this post.
  • Candidates must attain membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners to be eligible for this post.
  •  People must have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license to be eligible for this post.

Work setting 

  • Candidates must have strong leadership and the ability to mentor and guide junior-level planning professionals.
  • Candidates must attain the ability to provide the highest level of customer service to both members of the public and internal staff to be eligible for this post.
  • Candidates must have a solid working knowledge of municipal urban planning principles and practices to be considered as an asset for this post.
