Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supplying and emptying bed pans.
  • The candidate must take patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • The candidate must serve meal trays and feed patients.
  • The candidate must weigh, lift, turn, and position patients.
  • The candidate will be responsible for making beds and maintaining patient rooms.
  • The candidate will be responsible for bathing, dressing, and grooming patients.
  • The candidate must transport patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
  • The candidate must collect specimens.
  • The candidate must provide first aid in an emergency.
  • The candidate must provide personal care.
  • The candidate must provide companionship.
  • The candidate must perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • The candidate must launder clothing and household linens.
  • The candidate must provide bedside and personal care.
  • The candidate must feed or assist in feeding.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Nursing Aide Certificate, and Health Care Aide Certificate.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must have patience.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a nursing home/home for the aged or people who don’t need to be in a hospital but can’t be cared for at home.

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check, vulnerable sector check and tuberculosis test.
  • The candidate must have proof of immunization.
  • The candidate must provide valid reference information.
