Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supplying and emptying bed pans.
  • The candidate must serve meal trays and feed patients.
  • The candidate must weigh, lift, turn, and position patients.
  • The candidate will be responsible for making beds and maintaining patient rooms.
  • The candidate will be responsible for bathing, dressing, and grooming patients.
  • The candidate must transport patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
  • The candidate must answer to call signals to determine the needs of patients.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Health Care Aide Certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a nursing home/home for the aged or people who don’t need to be in a hospital but can’t be cared for at home.

Security and safety

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check, tuberculosis test and adult abuse registry check.
  • The candidate must have proof of immunization.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced busy environment.
  • The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
  • The candidate should be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
  • The candidate should have an eye for details.
