Job Description 

  • Applicants working in this post are required to enable workplace safety compliance through the development and review of OHS programs or protocols.
  • They’re also appointed at this post to conduct written risk assessments/safety inspections .
  • Candidates are also appointed to this post to develop safe work procedures working at this post.
  • Candidates are also required to provide training and education to employees on safety procedures, practices, and regulations working at this post.
  • They’re also required to deliver safety coaching to staff and develop or coordinate OHS crew talks and the corporate OHS training calendar working at this post.
  •  Candidates are also appointed at this post for leading an area of OHS expertise like “Violence’ in the Workplace Risk Assessments working at this post.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a dedicated post-secondary diploma, related degree, or certificate in Occupational Health and/or Safety or a related field.
  • They must have a safety-related professional designation (CRSP) to be eligible for this post.
  • They must have 5-7 years of related experience, preferably in a unionized municipal environment to be preferred for this post.
  •  They must have dedicated knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Act and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations.
  • Applicants must have proven experience with accident investigation techniques, excavation safe work practices, and workplace inspections.

Work setting 

  • Candidates must have dedicated experience with implementing safety initiatives and delivering safety training to diverse work groups.
  • Candidates applying for this post must have an excellent track record of providing advice and support to managers, supervisors, employees and Health & Safety Committee representatives to be considered as an asset for this post.
