Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for brush collection.
  • The candidate will be in charge of cleaning the crop.
  • The candidate will be in charge of clipping.
  • The candidate will be in charge of cleaning the greenhouse.
  • The candidate will be in charge of mixing fertiliser.
  • The candidate will be in charge of tying.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
  • The candidate will be expected to spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in the pruning of trees, shrubs, and plants.
  • The candidate must mix and prepare soils.
  • The candidate must plant bulbs and seeds.
  • The candidate must pot and re-pot plants.
  • The candidate will be expected to transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings.
  • The candidate will have to apply fertilisers.
  • The candidate must report any signs of insect or disease damage.
  • The candidate will be expected to dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs.
  • The candidate must water and care for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate will be expected to clean the work area.
  • The candidate will be expected to operate and maintain harvesting and cultivating equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • Fluency in Germanic and Spanish is an asset.
  • The candidate must have Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) certification.
  • The candidate must be able to lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include floriculture production and horticultural field crops.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp and hot conditions.
  • The work environment is smoke-free.

Work setting

  • The candidate must be willing to work in a rural area.
  • The candidate will be required to work in various locations.
  • The candidate will be required to work in horticulture nursery.

Experience and specialization

Type of product

  • Products include Coniferous trees, Deciduous trees, Native plants, Perennials, Berry bushes, Fruit trees, Ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges, and Seasonal plants.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with a chainsaw, forklift, garden tractors, irrigation pumps and equipment, mechanical sprayer, and light trucks.
