Mental Health Clinician 

Alberta health services has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Mental Health Clinician. This position includes Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists,Registered Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses. Candidates who work in this position as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team collaborating. They will assure the safety of clients and the community. They are responsible for conducting mental health assessments to contribute to a mental health diagnosis. Candidates will provide input to patient care planning and the team’s clinical decision-making. This planning is related to psychosocial factors, barriers and dynamics. Job description

  • Candidates will be responsible for providing consultation services for clients.
  • They are also responsible for providing specialized mental health assessments.
  • They will work closely with psychiatric emergency staff.
  • Candidates ensure the stabilization of immediate crises.
  • They will facilitate a person’s appropriate involvement in post-crisis treatment services.
  • They will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

Job requirement

  • Candidates must have training in Psychological First Aid. 
  • They must have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and be active.
  • They must have completed accredited Nursing.
  • They must have a psychiatric nursing education program.
  • They must have the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
  • They must have a Social Work bachelor’s degree.
  • They must have decision-making, assessment, and intervention skills.
  • They must have Alberta College of Social Work. 

Work setting

  • They must be able to provide psychological first aid and other stepped-care responses. 
  • They must have a minimum 4 years of addiction and Mental Health community setting experience.
  • They must have the ability to complete a mental health assessment in non-traditional settings. 
  • They must have the ability to work together. 
  • They must have the ability to work successfully with a heterogeneous client population. 
  • They must have a driver’s license.
