Job Description

• The candidate must adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems.
• The candidate will be responsible for inspecting and testing mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
• The candidate must conduct motor vehicle road tests.
• The candidate will be responsible for adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts and components of automotive systems.
• The candidate will be responsible for adjusting, repairing, or replacing truck-trailer system components.
• The candidate must repair or replace mechanical units or components.
• The candidate will be responsible for testing and adjusting repaired systems to meet manufacturer specifications.
• The candidate must estimate the parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• The candidate must perform scheduled maintenance service.
• The candidate will be responsible for cleaning, lubricating, and performing other maintenance tasks.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades, or equivalent experience.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate will be responsible for supervising mechanical repairers (in motor vehicle manufacturing).
• The candidate must hold Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Transmission) Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification, Motor Vehicle Repairer (Service Station Mechanic) Trade Certification, Truck-Trailer Repairer Trade Certification, Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement and Automotive Service Licence (310S).
• The candidate should be accurate.
• The candidate should be dependable.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
• The candidate must be punctual.

• The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.
• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The work environment is smoke-free.

• The candidate must work in the workshop and garage.
• The candidate should have an on-site customer service system where employees work in an office or business location.
• Work setting offers repair and maintenance services.

Experience and specialization

Area of specialization

• The candidate must be knowledgeable about engine repair, electrical and electronic systems, diagnostics, alignment, steering, and suspension, brake system, fuel and emission system, ignition, and electrical system, automatic transmission, standard transmission, engine repair and overhaul, drive train components, truck trailer repair and front end components.

• The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
