Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are required to inspect, maintain, overhaul, and service all types of trucks and specialized bodies.
- They’re also appointed at this post to perform assessments or conduct tests to determine vehicle problems working at this post.
- Candidates for this post are required to perform repairs to all vehicle/equipment systems.
- They’re appointed at this post to perform SGI Safety Inspections on heavy trucks assess the condition of vehicle parts and components and submit replacement order lists.
- Candidates for this post are required to conduct operational or road testing of completed repairs and final adjustments to meet equipment performance standards.
Job requirement
- They must have successful completion of a Journeyperson certificate in truck and transport, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Agricultural Machinery Technician or Automotive Service Technician.
- Also, candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in the heavy truck industry to be eligible for this post.
- They must have dedicated knowledge of fuel, air brakes, electrical, hydraulic, lubricating, cooling, ignition, injection, transmission and differential systems to be eligible for the post.
- Candidates must acquire knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine systems along with the ability to effectively use all testing and diagnostic equipment to be eligible for this post.
- They must be able to perform difficult mechanical repairs without technical direction or supervision to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must ensure the ability to read and interpret related technical information and complete required reports.
- They must have the ability to plan and organize work, along with communicating effectively in oral and written form to be eligible for this post.
