Job Description
- Candidates working in this post must assist with masonry and carpentry projects.
- They’re appointed at this post to assist with preventative maintenance programs and provide supervision and instructions to inmate helpers to be considered as an asset for this post.
- Applicants are also required to maintain accurate supplies, tracking logs and records.
- They’re able to perform plumbing maintenance like replacing toilets, plumbing lines, and taps, and unplugging clogged drains, sewage lines and traps.
- People are also appointed at this post to perform electrical maintenance like fixtures, Fuses, and Switches to be considered as an asset for this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have completed apprenticeship training in one of the skilled trades and are certified in Ontario.
- People must know of and demonstrated experience in a wide variety of general maintenance work such as plumbing, welding, electrical, etc to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must be able to work from blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to perform maintenance tasks.
- Candidates who applied for this post must be able to work with other tradespersons and institutional staff as well as provide instruction and supervision to inmate helpers.
- They must attain dedicated experience in the safe operation of power equipment and hand tools to be considered as an asset for this post.
- Applicants must attain knowledge of health and safety and demonstrate ability to follow organizational policies and procedures to be considered as an asset for this post.
- Candidates must be able to determine areas in need of preventative maintenance, estimate material requirements/costs, and identify issues.
