Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for administering medications as needed.
  • The candidate must apply aseptic techniques, including the use of sterile dressings, to ensure a sterile environment.
  • The candidate must conduct specimen collection.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring infection control.
  • The candidate must monitor nutritional intake.
  • The candidate must observe and record the therapeutic and side effects of medications.
  • The candidate must record the therapeutic and side effects observations of medications in patient files.
  • The candidate must take vital signs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring established respiratory and intravenous therapy.
  • The candidate must provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing nursing services to patients within a defined scope of practice based on patient assessment and care planning procedures.
  • The candidate must monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate will be required to have an Acute Care Nursing Certificate, Certified Foot Care Nurse designation, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, Certified Nurse in Critical Care – Canada (CNCC-C), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate, CPR Certificate, and First Aid Certificate, as well as be eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province or territory of work and have completed the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination.

  • The candidate should work in a nursing home/home for older people, or with individuals who don’t require hospitalization but can’t be cared for at home.
