Job Description

  • The candidate must manage landscaping projects.
  • The candidate must write specifications.
  • The candidate must survey and evaluate designated sites.
  • The candidate must water and care for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate must apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, and other lawn care products.
  • The candidate must assess the health of lawns.
  • The candidate will be responsible for directing crews that maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for examining trees and shrubs to identify problems and diseases.
  • The candidate must plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens.
  • The candidate must plant and move trees.
  • The candidate must weed, prune, and trim trees and plants.
  • The candidate must remove garbage and litter.
  • The candidate must plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and bulbs.
  • The candidate must lay sod or seed.
  • The candidate must cut grass.
  • The candidate must cart and spread topsoil and other materials.
  • The candidate must assist with landscape construction.
  • The candidate must apply fertilizers.
  • The candidate must rake and collect trash.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must have Horticulturist Trade Certification, Landscape Gardener Trade Certification, Landscape Architecture Technician Certificate, and Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) certification.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Experience and specialization

Type of heavy equipment operated

  • Heavy equipment operated includes gravel or dump trucks, backhoe excavators, loaders, and front end loaders.

Landscaping experience

  • The candidate must have landscaping experience in residential projects and commercial/industrial construction.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience using weed trimmer/edger, tractor, small engine equipment, rototiller, and pickup truck.

Construction specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in the construction of fieldstone paths, interlocking brick, ornamental ponds, fountains, and waterfalls, retaining walls, rock gardens and stone garden walls.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in landscape design, landscape construction, horticultural consulting, plant knowledge and identification, and horticulture.
