Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to ensure safe and environmentally responsible mineral exploration, mine development and closure. 
  • They’re also required to provide timely permitting decisions promoting BC’s many mineral opportunities and fostering a positive and supportive environment for staff. 
  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to promote BC’s many mineral opportunities and foster a positive and supportive environment for staff. 
  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to implement the Premier’s Jobs Plan commitments and contribute to the achievement of the Province’s social, economic and environmental goals.
  • They’re responsible for the review and issuance of permits and authorizations for all exploration and small mines in the region under the authority of the Mines Act. 

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a dedicated degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline from an accredited institution, and dedicated 3 years’ current experience related to mineral exploration or mining operations, preferably involving a broad range of mining activities including exploration, access construction, mining methods and mine reclamation. 
  • Candidates must attain a dedicated diploma in Mining Technology, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline from an accredited institution and 5 years’ current experience related to mineral exploration or mining operations, preferably involving a broad range of mining activities including exploration, access construction, mining methods and mine reclamation. 
  • They must attain an equivalent combination of relevant education and recent, related experience may be considered to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates with a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License to be eligible for this post will be preferred for this post. 
  • Those who are experienced with First Nations’ consultation processes are preferred at this post.
