Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for installing and overhauling heating systems.
- The candidate will be responsible for installing ventilation, air handling, and air conditioning systems.
- The candidate must interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation.
- The candidate must measure and lay out reference points for installation.
- The candidate must read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements.
- The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting heating systems.
- The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
- The candidate will be responsible for assembling and installing refrigeration and air conditioning components.
- The candidate will be responsible for coaching and instructing apprentices.
- The candidate must measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
- The candidate must provide excellent customer service.
- The candidate will be responsible for starting the system and testing for leaks with testing devices.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance tasks such as recharging the system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators, and calibrating the system.
- The candidate will be responsible for handling, recovering, and storing refrigerants.
- The candidate must repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems.
- The candidate will be responsible for making minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as contacting tradespeople for major repairs.

Credentials
Apprenticeship training
- The candidate must have completed apprenticeship training, including level one, level two, level three, level four, and level five apprenticeship training.
Experience and specialization
Type of service and repair
- The candidate must be specialized in the service and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Types of systems
- The candidate must be familiar with the plumbing, cold water, and drain lines system.
Control systems
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about energy conservation, computerized monitoring, electrical devices, on-board diagnostics, and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
Air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- The candidate must have experience and specialization in air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including rooftop (self‑contained) units, heat pumps, air motioning and circulation, filtration, humidification and dehumidification systems, ventilation, and cooling towers.
