Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of housekeeping duties.
  • The candidate will be in charge of food preparation.
  • The candidate must be able to resolve conflict situations.
  • The candidate must supervise the activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses.
  • The candidate will be required to implement behaviour management programmes.
  • The candidate will be required to accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
  • The candidate will be required to shop for food and household supplies.
  • The candidate will be required to provide personal care.
  • The candidate will be required to provide companionship.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals.
  • The candidate will be expected to plan therapeutic diets and menus.
  • The candidate will be required to perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • The candidate will be expected to launder clothing and household linens.
  • The candidate will be expected to take full responsibility for the household in the absence of the householder.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist clients in water (i.e. pool).
  • The candidate will be expected to provide bedside and personal care.
  • The candidate will be required to feed or assist in feeding.
  • The candidate must change non-sterile dressings.
  • The candidate will be required to administer medications.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in regular exercise, such as walking.
  • The candidate will be required to assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College/CEGEP qualification or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate will be required to possess the following credentials: Personal Support Worker Certification, Behaviour Management Certification, Community Disability Studies Certification, Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada Course, Developmental Services Worker SW) aining, Mandt System Training, Mental Health First Aid Certification, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification, Medication Administration Certification, First Aid Certification, CPR Certification, and Personal Support Worker Certification.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be punctual.
