Coppola Farms Inc. based in Kingsville, ON is looking suitable candidates for the position of Greenhouse Worker who are self-motivated and have good interpersonal skills. Coppola Farms Inc. was founded in 2000. The company’s foundation was established in 1968. In order to be environmentally responsible, our organisation recycles, reduces, and reuses whatever product that it can. Our GREENHOUSE COMPLEX uses an Integrated Pest Management System, which means that instead of using hazardous pesticides that could contaminate our products, we combat insects with other insects, eliminating the possibility of pesticides and other chemicals running down into our ground water.

A WATER RECYCLING AND FILTERATION SYSTEM has also been installed. In comparison to field-grown crops, this allows us to conserve and recycle more than half of our water. With this system in place, we save water while sterilising any bacteria or dangerous chemicals that may be present, reducing the likelihood of them entering our waterways. ENERGY SAVINGS CURTAINS are also used in our greenhouses.

This helps us to reduce the quantity of pollution released into the atmosphere while also preserving and regulating the amount of energy lost. Another policy in place at our plant is RECYCLABLE PACKAGING. Because we must give our consumers with transportable goods, we must carefully pack our produce. The candidate who got selected will be required to start work as soon as possible. The vacancies refer to Full time or Seasonal  employment. The shift timings include Day, Evening, Weekend and Morning. The position of Greenhouse Worker has been approved by the LMIA

Job Description

  • The candidate would be in charge of assisting with the pruning of trees, shrubs, and plants.
  • The candidate will be required to clean work area.
  • The candidates would be in charge of reporting any signs of insect or disease damage.
  • The candidate would be in charge of potting and re-potting plants
  • The candidate would be responsible for applying fertilizers
  • The candidate would be in charge of transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings
  • The candidate would be responsible for protecting plants from weeds and pests by taking appropriate actions like spraying pesticides etc.
  • The candidate would be in charge of planting bulbs and seeds.
  • The candidate would be in charge of mixing and preparing soils.
  • The candidate would be in charge of watering and caring for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate will be required to monitor irrigation and soil moisture as per crop requirements.
  • The candidate would be responsible for monitoring plants for healthy growth and potential weed, insect, disease, and fertilizer problems in greenhouse crops.
  • The candidate will be required to inspect already planted crops to ensure that they are growing properly and address any prevailing issues.
  • The candidate will be required to check every item to ensure farm’s standard while tossing away items that do not pass that threshold.
  • The candidate would be responsible for harvesting vegetables by hand
  • The candidate will be required to spray trees, shrubs, flowers and plants to prevent disease and pests
  • The candidate will be responsible for positioning and controlling greenhouse and outdoor irrigation systems in order to water plants and fields.
  • The candidate will be required to keep an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases.
  • The candidate would be in charge of vegetable culling.
  • The candidate should be responsible in keeping record information such as pesticide use and yields.
  • The candidate should have the capability to detect disease and health problems in crops.
  • The candidate should ensure uninterrupted water supply to the farm.
  • The candidate would be responsible for selecting and picking of produce according to size and ripeness and disregard rotting and over ripped produce.
  • The candidate would be responsible for grading, sorting and packing of produce into containers
  • The candidate would be responsible in participating the post-harvesting stage of crops and assist in packing them securely for storage purposes.
  • The candidate will be required to regularly update farm manager about crop progress.
  • The candidate need to clear and maintain irrigation ditches.
  • The candidate must examine the quality of the product and get it ready for the market.
  • The candidate will be expected to keep inventory and order materials as needed.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English Language
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma .
  • Previous experience in the farming industry is not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of farming best practices would be an added advantage.
  • The candidate would be responsible for cleaning crops.
  • The candidate will be required to perform brush collecting.
  • The candidate should need to do regular clipping activities for plants.
  • The candidate will be required to do harvesting of seedlings.
  • The candidate would be responsible for mixing fertilizer in correct proportions.
  • The candidate will be required to do regular weeding activity in the farm.
  • The candidate will be required to do regular seed cutting in the farm.
  • The candidate will be required to perform regular green house cleaning activity.
  • The candidate will be required to perform the deleafing method.
  •  The candidate will be required to perform suckering, tying, and lowering tasks.
  • The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • The candidate should be punctual.
