Job Description

  • The candidate must apply fertilizers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cutting agricultural crops.
  • The candidate must level the earth to fine grade specifications.
  • The candidate must plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate must write daily basic progress reports.
  • The candidate must clean the work area.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fertilizing and spraying crops.
  • The candidate must harvest crops.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs.) and more than 45 kg (100 lbs.).
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include oilseed (except soybean) farming, other grain farming, and wheat farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, dusty, hot, and dirty conditions.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in hazardous conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in all weather conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating a farm truck, forklift, loader, tractor, combine harvester, fertilizer applicator, planting equipment, seed drill, sprayer or duster, swather, tillage equipment, welding equipment, skidsteer, and hand tools.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
