Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting vegetables by hand.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting seedlings.
  • The candidate will be in charge of crop hoeing.
  • The candidate will be expected to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of vegetable culling.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
  • The candidate will be required to fertilise and spray crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will be expected to inspect the product for quality and prepare it for market.
  • The candidate must remove filled containers from conveyors.
  • The candidate will be required to manually pack goods into bags, boxes, or other containers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for feeding and unloading processing machines.
  • The candidate must clean and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will be expected to clean and maintain equipment.
  • The candidate must apply chemicals.
  • The candidate must transport raw materials, finished goods, and packaging materials.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Work Site Environment

  • Farm operations include fruit and vegetable combination farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, and other vegetables and melon farming (except potato)
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, dusty, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

Work Setting

  • The candidate must be willing to work in rural and remote areas.
  • The candidate will be required to work in various locations.
  • The candidate will be required to work in a processing plant.

Experience and Specialization

Type of Crops

  • Crops include asparagus, bell peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, onions, soybeans, sweet corn, and zucchini.

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with a farm truck, a fertiliser applicator, a sprayer or duster, a tractor, and a vegetable harvester.

Automated Systems Experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with an automated irrigation system and a feeding and watering system.
