Job Description
- The candidate must be able to handle animals.
- The candidate must mark livestock to prove ownership.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
- The candidate must perform livestock feeding.
- The candidate will be responsible for tracking and reporting on current feed inventories.
- The candidate will be responsible for treating livestock health issues.
- The candidate will be responsible for weaning.
- The candidate will be responsible for weeding.
- The candidate will be responsible for feeding and tending animals.
- The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- The candidate must maintain livestock performance records.
- The candidate will be responsible for training horses.
- The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
- The candidate must perform general farm duties.
- The candidate must write daily basic progress reports.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English language.
- There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Work site environment
- Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, hay farming, livestock combination farming, sheep farming, horse breeding, and livestock farming.
- The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
- The candidate must be willing to work in hazardous conditions.
- The candidate must be able to work in dusty, hot, wet/damp, cold/refrigerated and dirty conditions.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
- The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
- The candidate must work in all weather conditions.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
