Job Description

  • The candidate must clean the crop.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fruit tree training.
  • The candidate must hoe crops.
  • The candidate must plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate must participate in soil fertility programs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for weeding.
  • The candidate must harvest crops.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate will be expected to inspect the product for quality and prepare it for market.
  • The candidate will be responsible for sorting and packing fruits and vegetables.
  • The candidate must pick row and orchard crops.
  • The candidate must load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce, livestock, and poultry.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have a First Aid Certificate as well as a Pesticide Applicator’s Licence.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must be a quick learner.

Work site environment

  • The type of farm operation is fruit and vegetable combination farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp and hot conditions.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience operating a farm truck, fertilizer applicator, fruit harvester, loader, planting equipment, sprayer or duster, tractor, vegetable harvester, and hand tools.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with an automated irrigation system.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about nursery or greenhouse operations.
