  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight movement with other workers via radio communication.
  • The candidate will be responsible for scanning or documenting freight as well as labelling items with identifying information.
  • The candidate will be required to examine whether the information on the label and the contents of the box match.
  • The candidate will be required to move freight manually or with specialised machinery such as forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks.
  • The candidate will be expected to stack freight at designated locations using boards or pallets.
  • The candidate will be required to use protective devices such as padding and straps to prevent damage to transported freight.
  • The candidate will be responsible for adhering to weight restrictions as well as stabilising and guiding lifted freight with slings and hooks.
  • The candidate must keep track of the number of units handled per day, as well as their location and condition.
  • The candidate must update and maintain a record of every shipment in the inventory system.
  • The candidate must perform prescribed safety checks on freight handling equipment and adhere to safety regulations.
  • The candidate will be expected to collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others in the workplace.
  • The candidate will be expected to communicate with customers about the status of their deliveries and any issues that may arise during shipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for picking up incoming shipments from warehouses or docks and delivering them to warehouses or stores for storage or sale.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing documentation for shipments such as bills of lading and shipping manifests.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed prior to loading or unloading shipments.
  • The candidate will be expected to communicate with warehouse personnel about any issues that arise during the shipping process.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience coordinating freight movement throughout a storage facility.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience keeping accurate freight records and tracking freight locations.
  • The candidate should be proficient in operating specialised freight moving equipment and preventing damage.
  • The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Windows and Office
  • The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and highly motivated.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that parcels are properly inspected and inventoried prior to delivery.
  • The candidate will be required to follow hazardous materials regulations and respond to emergencies.
