Job description
- Candidates will load and unload trucks following established safety and environmental procedures; the main safety procedures are driver quarantine, secure trailer and safe tow-motor operation.
- They will receive raw materials and components, record any inaccuracies in the shipment or damaged containers or damaged goods, and stage those materials and/or components for efficient production.
- They will restore supply parts or finished goods in a timely and orderly manner, according to established storage and inventory control standards, e.g. Kanban.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have a Secondary School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- They must attain experience in light-assembly manufacturing.
- They must attain experience with Safety requirements or procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- They must have knowledge of Continuous Improvement concepts and programs (e.g. 5-S).
- Candidates must have ability to read Standard Work Instructions, Safety Instructions and Shipment records.
- They must have basic computer and arithmetic skills for inventory and shipment control.
- They must have written communications skills.
- They must have sound organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Work setting
- Candidates must be able to meet physical requirements for the safe operation of tow-motors and material moving equipment, including visual acuity, manual dexterity.
- They must be able to successfully complete the required safety tow-motor operators license within the trial period provided by Article of the Collective Agreement.
- They must be able to successfully complete certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Spills Response.
