Fire Crew Member

Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to report to the fire crew leader and work within a team setting. 
  • They’re also appointed to assist other Resource Conservation departments with other monitoring projects.
  • Candidates will also have to be part of the National Fire Management program and be required to respond and travel to various incidents across Canada.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must have a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience in a field related to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have experience working in remote areas for extended periods to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain the ability to perform calmly and take direction under high stress. 
  • Candidates must attain the Ability to collect and record information;
  • Candidates must have experience working in a resource or environmental management field to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must know about Personal Protective Equipment and other related Occupational Health and Safety issues to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must know fire management strategies and tactics and the ability to maintain supplied equipment in a state of readiness. 
  • They must attain the ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Candidates must have post-secondary education in natural resource management or the CIFFC S131-Fire Crew Member course to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must have experience in the supervision of fire operations personnel to be eligible for this post. 

Work setting 

  • They must have dedicated experience contributing to the preparation of technical/scientific reports and manuscript drafts, presentations and others to be eligible for this post.
