Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing livestock health issues.
- The candidate must be able to handle animals.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of farm safety and biosecurity procedures.
- The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- The candidate must provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigation, cultivation, spraying, and harvesting.
- The candidate must keep livestock performance records.
- The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
- The candidate must perform general farm duties.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- Candidate having experience is an asset.
- The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
- The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must be flexible.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate must be a quick learner.
Work site environment
- Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming (including feedlots), other miscellaneous crop farming, and livestock farming.
- The candidate must be able to work in dusty, hot, wet/damp and dirty conditions.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
- The candidate must work in all weather conditions.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
- The candidate’s relocation costs should not be covered by the employer; if the company does not provide a relocation package, you may request an advance on your earnings to cover some of your moving expenses.
- The candidate should be willing to relocate whether the candidate would be ready to move into a new city/different city for a job.
Experience and specialization
Equipment and machinery experience
- The candidate must have experience operating a feeding and watering system, sprayer or duster, storage and silage system, tractor, combine harvester, farm truck, forage equipment, haying equipment, loader, manure spreader, planting equipment, swather, welding, skidsteer, forklift and hand tools.
Area of specialization
- The candidate should be knowledgeable about beef cattle.
