Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of calving.
  • The candidate will be in charge of handling animals.
  • The candidate will be in charge of livestock branding.
  • The candidate will be in charge of monitoring animal health.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fertilising and spraying crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
  • The candidate will be expected to feed and care for animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
  • The candidate must be able to recognise and treat certain livestock health issues.
  • The candidate will be expected to carry out general farm duties.
  • The candidate will be expected to keep track of quality control and production records.
  • The candidate will be in charge of keeping work records and logs.
  • The candidate must create a feeding programme.
  • The candidate must keep livestock performance records.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.
  • The candidate must supervise and manage breeding and other livestock-related programmes.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, hay farming, other grain farming, other miscellaneous animal farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, livestock, grain, oil, and forage crop farming, and experimental farming.

Work setting

  • Accommodation for employees will be provided.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in a rural area.
  • The work environment includes Equipment operation.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with a farm truck, forage equipment, haying equipment, planting equipment, swather, tillage equipment, and tractor.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with a feeding and watering system.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in cattle breeding, mechanical work, beef cattle, agricultural crop service, and agricultural livestock service.
