Blueberry Farm is located in Abbotsford, BC V3G 1R3. The company is currently seeking applications for the position of Farm Supervisor. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The selected applicant will be required to join and assume their responsibilities as soon as possible. The open positions are for a Term, contract, or full-time job. The candidate may be assigned to work Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Flexible Hours and Early Morning shifts.

Job Description

  • The candidate must clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
  • The candidate will be responsible for dividing freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
  • The candidate must mix fertilizer.
  • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the activities of clearing the fields.
  • The candidate will be required to trim and shape trees and plants using knives.
  • The candidate must tie and secure plants.
  • The candidate will be responsible for training trees to produce more fruit of higher quality.
  • The candidate will be responsible for weeding.
  • The candidate must provide agricultural crop services, including plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality control and production records.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and overseeing growing and other crop-related operations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining work records and logs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for hiring and training staff.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The employer will provide training to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The type of farm operation is a combination of fruit and vegetable farming.
  • The candidate must be able to work in hot conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate should be willing to work in a rural area, where most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate should work in a staff accommodation that offers live-in facilities, provided by the employer, which provides housing to its employees.
  • The candidate’s relocation costs should be covered by the employer, allowing the employer to contribute to the employee’s relocation costs incurred in moving closer to the company’s offices or other work locations as required.
