Job Description
- The candidate must clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
- The candidate will be responsible for clearing fields of wood and stone.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and guiding the behaviour of farm animals.
- The candidate must develop specific plans to prioritize their tasks.
- The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing livestock health issues.
- The candidate will be responsible for disinfecting pens, barns, and poultry houses.
- The candidate will be responsible for grooming horses in preparation for competitions and shows.
- The candidate must be able to handle animals.
- The candidate must mark livestock to prove ownership.
- The candidate will be responsible for milking goats, either manually or using machines.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
- The candidate must monitor animal health.
- The candidate must organize tasks to complete the work.
- The candidate must perform animal grooming activities.
- The candidate must perform livestock feeding.
- The candidate must perform pig littering tasks such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identifying piglets, and castration.
- The candidate must prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are in the process of calving.
- The candidate will be responsible for tracking and reporting on the current feed inventory.
- The candidate will be responsible for treating livestock health issues.
- The candidate will be responsible for weaning.
- The candidate will be responsible for feeding and caring for the animals.
- The candidate must keep financial and production records.
- The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- The candidate must be able to carry out pasture or pen breeding programs.
- The candidate must ensure that farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed.
- The candidate must maintain livestock performance records.
- The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
- The candidate must maintain work records and logs.
- The candidate must perform general farm duties.
- The candidate will be responsible for handling and caring for livestock.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
- The candidate should be organized and flexible.
- The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate must be a quick learner.

- Farm operations include chicken farming, duck and goose farming, fruit and vegetable combination farming, goat farming, hay farming, hog and pig farming, layer poultry farming, livestock combination farming, other miscellaneous animal farming, other poultry farming, rabbit farming (cuniculture), sheep farming, turkey farming, dairy farming, livestock farming, poultry and egg production, and tree and orchard fruit production.
- The candidate must be able to work in various conditions, including wet, damp, dusty, hot, cold, refrigerated, and dirty environments.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration despite these conditions.
- The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
- The candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions.
