Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• The candidate must synthesize the children’s overall situation and communicate this information to their parents.
• The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
• The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
• The candidate will be expected to discuss the children’s progress and problems at staff meetings.
• The candidate must be knowledgeable about licensing regulations.
• The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
• The candidate must develop and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children.
• The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have a College/CEGEP diploma.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must be a Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) and hold a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• The candidate must be punctual.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate should be flexible.
• The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
• The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.

Work setting

• The candidate should work in a child care centre, day nursery, or crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.

• The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal background check, medical examination, tuberculosis test, and vulnerable sector check.
• The candidate must have proof of immunization.
