Since 2009, BrightStart Children’s Academy has provided full-service professional early learning and childcare to Greater Vancouver neighbourhoods. Job description

  • The candidate will be required to have knowledge of licensing regulations.
  • The candidate would be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The candidate will be required to lead activities by telling or reading stories.
  • The candidate will be required to lead activities by taking children to local points of interest.
  • The candidate will be required to establish guidelines for behavior.
  • The candidate would be responsible for providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating.
  • The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of dressing habits.
  • The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of toilet habits.
  • The candidate will be required to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • The candidate will be required to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • The candidate will be expected to assess children’s abilities, interests, and needs and to discuss progress and problems with parents and other staff members.
  • The candidate will be required to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • The candidate will be required to have knowledge of Day Nurseries Act.
  • The candidate would be responsible for imparting knowledge to children through fun and play.
  • The candidate will be required to supervise maintain daycare equipment.
  • The candidate would be responsible for participating  research programs concerned with improvements in early childhood teaching methods, as appropriate.
  • The candidate will be required to interacts with parents and community groups; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child’s family relationships.
  • The candidate will be required to plans and prepares classroom setting; oversees safety and educational programs; supervises children in the classroom; provides a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
  • The candidate will be required to observe how children use the materials and interact with each other and adults.
  • The candidate will be required to provide positive guidelines such as re-directing, positive language and reinforcement.
  • The candidate will be required to seek out opportunities to recognize and celebrate new developmental achievements
  • The candidate must follow the guidelines of the Education Department and the State.
  • The candidate would be responsible for representing and documenting children’s activities-display of children’s drawings and printing, portfolios.
  • The candidate would be responsible for monitoring and supervising the children constantly.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language
  • The candidate should have a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum 1 to less than 7 months of working experience in similar industry.
  • The candidate must have Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • The candidate would be responsible for children aged 5 years, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, and infants (3 months – 11 months)
  • The candidate should have their Immunization records.
  • The candidate should have experience with Special Needs Children.
  • The candidate should have experience with Children with an intellectual disability.
  • The candidate should have experience with Children with behavioral issues.
  • The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be punctual.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills

  • The candidate will be required to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • The candidate will be required to bathe, bottle-feed infants and changing diapers when required
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The candidate will be required to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and  preparing crafts
  • The candidate will be required to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • The candidate must provide written observations of children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining daycare equipment as well as assisting with housekeeping and cooking duties.
  • The candidate will be required to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
  • The candidate would be in charge of supervising and coordinating the work of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
