Job description

  • The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The candidate will be expected to lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local attractions.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
  • The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
  • The candidate will be required to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
  • The candidate will be required to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
  • The candidate will be expected to assess children’s abilities, interests, and needs and to discuss progress and problems with parents and other staff members.
  • The candidate will be required to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • The candidate will be required to develop behavioural guidelines.
  • The candidate will be responsible for imparting knowledge to children through fun and play.
  • The candidate will be responsible for participating research programs concerned with improvements in early childhood teaching methods, as appropriate.
  • The candidate will be expected to plan and prepare classroom settings, supervise safety and educational programmes, supervise children in the classroom, and provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practise appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviours.
  • The candidate will be expected to communicate openly and cooperatively with parents and families, encouraging their participation in the programme and supporting the child’s family relationships.
  • The candidate will be required to provide positive guidelines such as re-directing, positive language and reinforcement.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and maintaining daycare equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum 1 to 2 years of working experience in similar industry.
  • The candidate must have First Aid Certificate, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate and CPR Certificate.
  • The candidate would be in charge of children aged five, one, two, three, four, and up to twelve years.
  • The candidate should have experience with Special Needs Children.
  • The candidate should have experience with Children with an intellectual disability.
  • The candidate should have experience with Children with behavioral issues.
  • The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be punctual.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills

  • The candidate will be required to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The candidate will be expected to engage children in activities such as storytelling, song teaching, and craft preparation.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • The candidate must provide written observations of children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • The candidate will be expected to place orders for supplies and equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining daycare equipment as well as assisting with housekeeping and cooking duties.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist early childhood educators or supervisors with record keeping.
  • Before and after regular school hours, the candidate will be expected to plan and organise activities for school-age children in child-care programmes.
  • The candidate must supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
  • The candidate will be in charge of Storytelling.

  • The candidate should have a thorough Criminal record check and Vulnerable sector check.
  • The candidate should have their Immunization records.
  • To be fit for duty, the candidate must pass a tuberculosis test as well as a medical exam.

  • The candidate should be willing to work in an outdoor environment for long hours.
  • Work places are completely smoke free.
