Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for cattle training.
• The candidate must be able to handle animals.
• The candidate must monitor animal health.
• The candidate must plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
• The candidate must pick stones and/or wood.
• The candidate will be responsible for weeding.
• The candidate must harvest crops.
• The candidate will be responsible for feeding and tending animals.
• The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of farm safety and biosecurity procedures.
• The candidate must maintain financial and production records.
• The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• The candidate must ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
• The candidate must maintain livestock performance records.
• The candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality control and production records.
• The candidate must milk cows.
• The candidate must be able to recognise and treat certain livestock health issues.
• The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
• The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
• The candidate must perform general farm duties.

• There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate must have a First Aid Certificate.

Work site environment

• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
• The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.
• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• Farm operations include dairy farming as well as potato and vegetable farming.
• The candidate must work in all weather conditions.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

• The candidate must have prior experience operating a feeding and watering systems, automated milking systems, storage and silage systems, tractor, farm truck, forage equipment, haying equipment, loader, planting equipment, tillage equipment, and skidsteers.

Automated systems experience

• The candidate must be familiar with automated bulk grain or feed handling, automated environmental control equipment, and manure handling and storage.

Area of specialization

• The candidate should be knowledgeable about dairy cattle.
