Job Description
- Candidates in this post must comply with the Highway Traffic Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the City’s Respectful Workplace Policy, and other related laws.
- They’re also accountable for assisting in training other crossing guards if requested to work at this post.
- Candidates accountable at this post must report incidents at the crossing to the supervisor, following up with the school officials and/or Peel Regional Police as directed by the Supervisor working at this post.
Job requirement
- To be eligible for this post, candidates must be in good physical condition and able to stand and walk, holding a stop sign for up to one hour at a time in all weather conditions.
- Applicants must demonstrate good hearing and eyesight to be eligible for this post.
- They should have good interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to work independently without direct day-to-day supervision.
- To be considered an asset for this post, candidates must be available for three shifts daily, Monday through Friday, during the school year.
Work setting
- Applicants who apply for this post must wear supplied safety clothing and use all safety equipment as per training by the Supervisor, Crossing Guards, team Leader, Crossing Guards, and Field Leader/Crossing Guards working at this post.
