Job Description
- The candidate must be able to operate buses, school buses, or streetcars in order to transport passengers.
- The candidate must provide sightseeing information.
- The candidate must report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents.
- The candidate must load and unload vehicles.
- The candidate must direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that paratransit passengers board the vehicle safely.
- The candidate must deal with the public.
- The candidate must complete logbooks and reports.
- The candidate must deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts.
- The candidate must use two-way radio systems to communicate with other drivers, dispatchers, and passengers.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring children’s safety when boarding and exiting buses, as well as crossing the street while the bus is stopped.
- The candidate must maintain control of student activities while traveling to avoid distractions or behaviors that could compromise safety.
- The candidate will be responsible for pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
- Candidate having experience is an asset.
- The candidate must have an Air Brakes Endorsement, a Class 2/2F/C Licence (buses with more than passengers), an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, a First Aid Certificate, a Driver’s Licence (Class 2 or B or C), and a CPR Certificate.
- The candidate must have completed a Defensive Driving Course and be a Certified Professional Bus Operator.
- The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
- The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
- The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Work setting
- The candidate’s relocation expenses will not be covered by the employer.
- The candidate must be willing to relocate to the specified location.
Experience and specialization
Type of experience
- The candidate must have prior experience as a school bus driver, intercity bus driver, tour and charter bus driver, para-transit driver, and bus driver.
Transportation/travel experience
- The candidate must have prior travel experience in local, regional, national, and provincial/territorial areas.

- The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal record check, driving record check (abstract), drug test, and medical exam.
