Job requirement
- Candidates must have successful completion of secondary school according to interprovincial standards to be eligible for this .
- They must attain a dedicated interprovincial Journeyman’s certificate in carpentry to be preferred for this post.
- They must attain a dedicated Journeyman Carpenter Certificate from Alberta that can be considered for a 9-month term offer to provide time to obtain their Red Seal to get preferred for this post.
- Applicants must have substantial experience in the carpentry trade in a maintenance shop environment to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain dedicated maintenance of residential and light industrial buildings to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have maintenance of historical buildings along with dedicated carpentry trade, practices and procedures to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain the knowledge of current methods and practices related to structural repair and maintenance. Applicants must be able to work weekends, shift work, statutory holidays and overtime to be eligible for this post.
- Applicants must attain the willingness and ability to travel and work in a variety of climatic and geographical conditions at various work sites to be considered as an asset for this post.
- Applicants must be able to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures to be preferred for this post.
Work setting
- Candidates must have current codes, statutes, and regulations related to carpentry and must perform general labour tasks associated with the carpentry trade to be eligible for this post.
- Applicants must be able to maintain work records and drawings to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates are also required to review and interpret conceptual plans, and building/construction plans.
- Candidates are also appointed to work independently and assess and adjust priorities to be eligible for this post.
