Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to perform skilled carpentry work on historic and contemporary assets.
- They’re also appointed to perform foundation upgrades, roof upgrades vessel structural repairs, inspect facilities for defects and work with a multidisciplinary team to repair and maintain our heritage structures.
- Candidates are also appointed to lead different projects in collaboration with the Carpentry Supervisor.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have successful completion of a post-secondary program relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain a journeyman carpenter certificate to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain experience in the safe and appropriate use and maintenance of power, hand tools and construction equipment used in the building trades.
- Candidates must have experience in the inspection, repair and maintenance of heritage structures
- They must have recent experience working as a carpenter and attain a minimum of one year of experience working as a journeyman carpenter to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must know about building maintenance and construction techniques for historic and contemporary assets.
- Candidates must attain knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in the building trades to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain the ability to use, inspect, and maintain a wide range of shop tools associated with carpentry
- Candidates must attain the ability to review and interpret conceptual building/construction plans to be eligible for this post.
- They must ensure the ability to work independently, plan, assess and adjust varied priorities to be eligible for this post.
Work setting
- Candidates must attain the ability to work as a team and provide leadership on the job site to be eligible for this post.
