Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting clients/guests with special needs.
  • The candidate must follow educational policies and programs.
  • The candidate will need to set up and take down camps.
  • The candidate will be responsible for establishing emergency shelters.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing outdoor, wilderness, and wildlife instruction.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating communication (including emergency) devices.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for evaluating curriculum programs and recommending improvements.
  • The candidate will be responsible for accompanying groups on outdoor sports and recreational trips.
  • The candidate must develop teaching materials and other resources for program delivery.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assembling camping gear and supplies.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must have a First Aid Certificate.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must work in or on water.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate must work in an outdoor centre, school or educational institution/establishment, non-governmental organization, education department, children’s camp, or summer camp.
  • The workplace provides orienteering and/or survival training.

Experience and specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about the green economy sector, as well as have specialized environmental skills and knowledge.

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check.
