Job Description

  • The candidate must study market reports, trade periodicals , and sales promotion materials.
  • The candidate must establish and maintain contact with suppliers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • The candidate must negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements with suppliers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the distribution of merchandise to outlets.
  • The candidate must review the establishment’s requirements and determine the quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • The candidate will be responsible for selecting and purchasing merchandise for resale.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising the work of other buyers.
  • The candidate must visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College/CEGEP diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in a wholesale establishment or store.

Experience and specialization

Computer and technology knowledge

  • The candidate must be familiar with Spreadsheet, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.

  • The candidate must be specialized in the area of E-commerce.

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about purchasing, analyzing merchandise needs, analyzing markets, selecting products, negotiating distribution, pricing, and product development.
