Fort Frances Collision Centre situated in 1001 Kings Highway, Fort Frances, ON P9A 2X7 is currently looking for applications for the role of Autobody technician – collision who is a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills. The selected candidate for this position will be expected to start work promptly. The available positions are for Permanent employment or Full time job. The candidate must work on the day shift from 08:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m.

Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the workspace.
  • The candidate must replace front-end components, body components, doors and frames, and underbody components.
  • The candidate must file, grind, and sand body surfaces to be repaired.
  • The candidate must mask and tape the auto body surfaces in order to prepare for painting.
  • The candidate must use blocks and hammers to remove dents, buckles, and defects.
  • The candidate must remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills and bolt or weld replacement parts into place.
  • The candidate will be responsible for applying primers and repainting surfaces.
  • The candidate must repair or replace interior components.
  • The candidate must repair or replace damaged windows, windshields, and sunroofs.
  • The candidate must be able to mix paint, blend, and match colors.
  • The candidate must be able to use soldering equipment or plastic filler to fill holes, dents, and seams.
  • The candidate will be responsible for straightening bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Trade Certification, Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Red Seal Endorsement Certification, and Auto Body Repairer Trade Certification.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.

Experience and specialization

Area of work experience

  • The candidate must have work experience in the following areas: body components, doors and frames, frame straightening, front end components, interior components, metal cutting, paint spraying, underbody components, unibody machine, welding.

Additional information

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must have their own transportation.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced busy environment.
  • The candidate should be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
  • The candidate should have an eye for details.
  • The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.

Own tools/equipment

  • The candidate must have steel-toed safety boots and tools.
