Job description

  • Candidates will assist in the preparation of product specifications descriptions/scope of work.
  • They will edit and process requisitions.
  • They will conduct an invitational call process in accordance with the Purchasing By-laws, Policies and Procedures.

Job requirement

  • Candidates should be possessing or in pursuit of a certificate from a recognized Purchasing program or an approved equivalent of education and/or experience.
  • They must acquire practical purchasing related experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
  • They must possess experience working with Purchasing related policies and procedures (e.g., purchase orders, quotation requests).
  • They should have experience working with computerised purchasing systems (i.e., SAP, Ariba).

Work setting

  • Candidates must have knowledge of the City’s purchasing policies and procedures.
  • They must have strong verbal and written communications, with demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • They must have strong organisational, analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines, handle competing priorities.
  • They must have the ability to work independently, as required.
