Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to provide professional advice to police and related agencies on criminal matters applied for this post.
  •  They’re also appointed to draft indictments and assist senior counsel with prosecutions and research applied for this post.
  •  People are also appointed to work cooperatively with other justice sector partners.
  • People working in this post are appointed to screen and prepare cases.
  • Occasional travel may be required to various locations within the Province working at this post.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates working at this post must attain membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario to be eligible for this post.
  • They must have a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s license to be eligible for this post.
  • People must have dedicated knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, criminal law procedures, rules of evidence and case law to be eligible for this post.
  • Candidates must attain dedicated knowledge and understanding of the role and function of a prosecutor in the criminal justice system in Ontario to be considered as an asset for this post.
  • Applicants must have proven judgment and analytical ability to determine appropriate legal remedies.

Work setting 

  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and a proven ability to work with Indigenous communities to be considered as an asset for this post.
  •  Applicants must ensure the ability to use computer technology and its related software to be eligible for this post.
