Job Description

  • The candidate must consult with clients to determine the type, style, and purpose of proposed renovations or new building construction.
  • The candidate will be in charge of project management.
  • The candidate will be expected to conceptualise and design buildings, as well as create plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs, and construction timelines.
  • The candidate will be in charge of urban planning.
  • The candidate must prepare sketches and models.
  • The candidate must conduct architectural research.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare or supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespeople.
  • The candidate will be in charge of feasibility studies and financial analyses for construction projects.
  • The candidate must supervise technologists, technicians, and other architects.
  • The candidate must estimate costs.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare bidding documents, participate in contract negotiations, and award construction contracts.
  • The candidate will be in charge of proposal preparation.
  • The candidate will be in charge of writing specifications.
  • The candidate will be expected to tender and manage contracts.
  • The candidate will be in charge of interior design (general)
  • The candidate will be expected to monitor activities on construction sites to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • The candidate will be expected to conduct feasibility studies and financial analyses of construction projects.
  • The candidate will be expected to collaborate with customers, architects, and engineers on plans and specifications.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Architecture (BArch, BA, BS, BSc, MArch, MA, MS, MSc, PhD), Architectural technology/technician, architectural drafting, and architectural CAD/CADD.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work at heights.

Work setting

  • The candidate will be required to work in an architectural firm.
  • The candidate must be willing to relocate to the specified location.

Experience and specialization

Computer and technology knowledge

  • The candidate must be proficient in Autodesk 3ds Max, Architectural software programmes, AutoCAD, Autodesk REVIT, and SketchUp.

Architectural specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in public buildings, new construction, renovation, site inspections, commercial, industrial, institutional, interior and space planning, and residential construction.

  • The candidate must have a basic security clearance.
  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check.

  • The candidate must be willing to travel.
