Job Description

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to greet and orient visitors and deliver reception, public safety, and interpretive messages.
  • They’re also appointed to provide feedback and suggestions to improve programs and services.
  • Candidates are appointed to demonstrate interpretation techniques and practices and provide mentorship to new staff and volunteers.
  • They’re also appointed to ensure that rules, procedures, and regulations of the National Park are followed working in this post. 

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a secondary school diploma or PSC-approved alternatives or an acceptable combination of education, training, experience and traditional knowledge relevant to the position to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have experience in providing service and communication to the public and experience in delivering messages/information to groups.
  • They must have experience leading/guiding groups and dedicated experience in children’s programming, storytelling, theater/performing arts, museum education, interpretation, classroom instruction, and/or activity facilitation.
  • They must have dedicated experience working outdoors in various weather conditions and be able to wear a Parks Canada uniform.
  • They must be able to work shift work, weekends, statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays and be able to perform certain physical tasks such as light facility cleaning duties.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work from various locations and possession of a valid First Aid and CPR. 
  • Candidates must listen to others and communicate articulately to inform, influence and involve.

  • They must be able to respond to client needs in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner, regardless of client attitude to be eligible for this post.
