Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of month-end activities such as preparing month-end journal entries, assessing expenditures against capitalization criteria and our Capital Asset Policy, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing the month-end capital asset reporting package.
  • The candidate will be in charge of posting monthly amortisation, asset transfers, and disposals.
  • The candidate will be in charge of monthly Continuity schedules for several companies.
  • The candidate will be in charge of a thorough understanding of Right of Use and Lease Liability Accounting.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare monthly capital cashflow statements for multiple companies.
  • The candidate will be the primary point of contact for other Finance members and non-Finance business units for all capital-related issues.
  • The candidate will be responsible for responding to ad-hoc requests in a timely manner in order to support business decisions.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare quarterly financial statement notes.
  • The candidate will be expected to perform detailed accounting and reporting activities on a recurring basis to support an accurate and timely period-end close, such as posting monthly accruals, reclassifications, and other journal entries, developing, completing, and refining balance sheet reconciliations, and investigating any deviations from expectations, and preparing variance analysis on monthly and quarterly data.
  • The candidate will be expected to continuously improve processes and procedures in order to evolve month-end deliverables in tandem with technological and operational changes.
  • The candidate will be expected to actively collaborate with various teams across the organisation to assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, projects, and decision support as needed.
  • The candidate will be expected to collaborate with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to facilitate forecast and budget preparation.
  • The candidate must be an active member of the Finance team, willing to brainstorm issues, and flexible in completing any task.
  • The candidate will be expected to ensure compliance with C-Sox requirements, including maintaining and improving controls documentation and processes.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a post-secondary degree in a related field (i.e., Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Finance).
  • The candidate must have earned a professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • The candidate must have 3-5 years of post-designation experience in an accounting role with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Excel and have a strong desire to learn new technology.
  • The candidate should have working knowledge of IFRS, specifically IAS 16 and IAS 39.
  • The candidate should have strong communication skills in order to build collaborative relationships with business partners and to provide guidance and instruction to peers within the organisation.
  • The candidate should be proficient in JDE, and any other similar ERP experience would be an asset.
  • The candidate should have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • The candidate should have strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
